Preschool Three:
This year will prove to be fun for you and your child.  The program will provide your child with a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality respected.  A large part of our curriculum will focus on social and emotional growth, giving each child tools to help identify their feelings and the feelings of others.  This curriculum will also help build their problem solving skills and vocabulary when confronted with challenges.

This classroom will integrate with children from Bornhava Preschool for Children with Developmental Disabilities.  The classroom is involved in shared activities.  During these times the children from Ripen provide age appropriate role models for social skills such as sharing, taking turns, helping each other, initiating interaction with another child and participating in make believe play activities.  The children also model age appropriate language, cognitive, motor and self-help skills.

Preschool Four:
The four-year-old program will focus on Kindergarten readiness.  Our activities will be developmentally appropriate in physical, emotional and social skills.    We will have our friends from Bornhava join the class during the morning.  Bornhava provides a team of professionals who interact with all the children.  Children learn through their experiences with hands on activities inside and out.  Early literacy will also be a major part of the curriculum.  Emphasis will be placed on learning first names, alphabet, number recognition and printing.  Your child will also be challenged to enhance listening skills and lengthen their attention span.  Monthly themes will give your child an opportunity to learn about the world around them.

Our day will be balanced with structured activities and free play, indoor and outdoor activities, active and quiet times.  We want to create a partnership with the parents so we can all work together towards a common goal.
We go on monthly field trips which are theme related with cultural awareness as well as a monthly trip to the local library.

There will be a featured "Letter of the Week" posted in the hall on our class bulletin board.  Every child will be encouraged to bring in a picture of something that begins with that letter.  They can cut it out from a magazine, newspaper, draw it themselves, a photo or an item from their toys.  This is to encourage both parent and child to work together to think about the letter and bring in an example.  A book is then put together for the children to see.

It is also important for every family to bring in pictures.  It will be displayed on a "Family Wall" for the children to look at during the day.
